You park at SFO for a week, then the car won’t wake. In San Bruno, that’s the classic stall after a trip. It’s a dead 12V after a long stay, not an empty pack. The city wraps the south and west of the airport. Many of those calls start on I-380, the SFO connector. Others sit on El Camino Real, or in Belle Air or Crestmoor.

What a long SFO stay does to the 12V

Your traction pack can still hold plenty of miles. The small 12-volt battery wakes the computers, locks, and contactors. Sit still for days and that 12V can drain. That holds in cool, foggy air at the base of San Bruno Mountain. A long park can flatten the 12V on Tesla and other EVs. The dash stays dark and the app won’t connect. The charge port often won’t open either. Start with Tesla 12V failure after a long park.

San Bruno sits on the airport’s south edge

San Bruno is in San Mateo County on 5.489 square miles. Census ACS 2019-2023 puts the population at 42,612. The corridors that matter are US-101, I-280, and I-380. SR-82, El Camino Real, cuts through the middle. Skyline Boulevard climbs the west side toward the ridge. The Shops at Tanforan site sits in town. San Bruno Mountain State Park sits on the west rise. Nearby cities are Millbrae, South San Francisco, Pacifica, San Mateo, and Burlingame. PG&E runs the wires, and Peninsula Clean Energy is the CCA. Neither one will wake a car that won’t start.

SFO lists EV charging at flysfo.com/parking/electric-vehicle-charging. Automated checks couldn’t read that page on 2026-09-18. Charging stall detail isn’t confirmed here, so check the airport site in a browser. A locked car with a dead 12V still may not take a plug.

Dead 12V or empty pack: pick the right help

If the car is dark and silent, start with the 12V. A jump or a 12V swap on site is the usual first move. The pros we connect you with handle that Tesla 12V battery jump. If the screens work, check the miles left. Zero miles means you need range, not a jump.

Charge Pro SF is a referral line that matches you with independent local operators. It doesn’t own trucks, employ techs, or set a price. The operator quotes you before any work starts, then bills you directly.

For a dark car, the pro typically jumps or replaces the 12V on site. For an empty pack, they bring a 240V Level 2 source to the car. Tesla gets a native NACS plug. Other brands use a CCS or J1772 adapter. A Level 2 session typically adds 10 to 20 miles. That’s 15 to 30 minutes of charging, never an arrival time.

If you stalled on I-380 or 101

California Vehicle Code 21718 covers a disabled stop on a freeway. You can stay when the car can’t keep going and help is already called. CVC 22651(f) covers a car left more than four hours on a full-access-control freeway. If it can’t move under its own power, it can be removed.

On weekdays FSP runs 6 to 10 AM and 3 to 7 PM (511.org). Dial 511 and ask for Freeway Assist. MTC’s FSP page lists gas, jump-starts, and radiator refills. It doesn’t mention electric vehicles or out-of-charge help. After those hours, CHP Rotation Tow is the highway path.
